We believe there are 3 crucial pillars you need in your Christian walk. There are many things the modern church does, but some of these basics are completely missing! Our desire is to strengthen the core of a disciple and from that will come many works, fruit, and growth in Jesus. We believe these things are better foundation to build your life upon.
Be Born Again
To see the kingdom of God you need to be born from above by the Spirit. It’s not enough to be born by the flesh, but you need to be born again. Everyone has sinned and need to be forgiven and come to the right standing with God and thus have peace with God. To get born again you need to believe in Jesus.
When the jailer asked how to be saved, the answer was believe. How he did that was getting baptized as it is written in Acts 16:30-33: "He then brought them out and asked, 'Sirs, what must I do to be saved?' They replied, 'Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved —you and your household.' Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized. The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in God—he and his whole household."
When the fellow jews asked Peter what to do, that is how to respond to Jesus dying on the cross. He answered repent, get baptized and you receive the gift of the Holy Ghost as is written in Acts 2:36-38:
“Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.” When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” You can liken it with a car which easily takes you to your destination using 4 wheels instead of less. Repent, believe, get baptized and receive the promise of the Spirit.
To repent and believe is the same thing but different sides of the coin. Repenting of unbelief to faith in Jesus and what He did on Calvary. To be baptized is the first step in the walk in freedom with Jesus. You get baptized in water as your burial and in the Spirit to be empowered to be a minister in the new covenant in the blood of Jesus. It’s a fellow priest that baptise you in water in the authority of the name of Jesus but it’s Jesus Himself baptizing you in the Spirit. Many get set free from demons in the baptism in water and many start to speak in tongues in the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
The fellowship of the believers is a spiritual family with parents and kids growing up into Christ. A family which care and share. There are 4 ingredients or sources in the Christian walk you need to cling to and discover. Let the Spirit give life to these ingredients and sources which you find in Acts 2:42: “And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”
1. Apostles’ teaching
The teachings of the Apostles are found in the New Testament, which is based on the Old Testament. You ought to take part of it daily by reading, meditating, confessing, teaching, preaching, etc. Let the Holy Ghost reveal the Word to you, with the understanding that we have entered into a new covenant. A covenant that is better and rests on the finished work of Calvary.
2. The fellowship of believers
As newborn Jesus disciples, we need the fellowship of believers. That means we need to surround ourselves with those who are on the same mission as we are. We may seem ordinary, but we are a peculiar people. We need each other and should meet daily in different constellations and make ourselves interdependent. We should get to know each other and hear each other’s heartbeat. Together we are built up as God’s dwelling in the Spirit. Jesus is our common head and the Spirit our common supervisor. We are called to encourage each other every day as it is called today.
3. Breaking of bread
When sharing communion we remind ourselves of Jesus and proclaim His death, until the day He returns. This is something to celebrate and should be kept alive and not put in a rigid form. We can celebrate it daily in joy together with true siblings in Christ. Jesus gets bigger and our understanding of what He has done on Calvary clearer, when sharing communion frequently.
We exercise our royal priesthood in prayer. We worship and praise God as well as command the evil and circumstances to come into alignment with His will. Talking to God is prayer and our prayers are based on the Word of God. Prayer should be exercised daily, but really all the time. Just as we constantly breathe without thinking, we can stay connected in the frequency of heaven 24/7. We can pray in understanding and in tongues.
We are a royal priesthood in the kingdom of God and we have a common mission. We are to share the good news about Jesus Christ with others, who are on their way to eternal perdition. They are blind, but the preaching of the cross, is the power to salvation, which can open their eyes.
We have the ministry of reconciliation. We are as ambassadors of Christ crying “be reconciled to God”. We have found the precious gem in the field and paid everything to get it. We were blind, but now we see. We were lost, but now we’re found. Let’s go out sharing by telling others. We are preaching with signs and wonders and words.
Apart from sharing the good news with unbelievers, we also share treasures with fellow believers, as kickstarting to heal the sick. We make disciples who make disciples as is written in 2 Timothy 2:2: “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.“
As a disciple of Jesus Christ you have faith and the Spirit living inside of you, which is everything you need to preach through signs and wonders and to fish for people. But the way things work in the kingdom is to make disciples. Not just tell but take someone by the hand and show them how it’s done. We show how to heal the sick, how to cast out demons, how to baptise, how to help someone start speaking in tongues, how to read the Bible, how to pray, how to prophecy etc.
